Easy 5-Ingredient Crab Cakes – flavorful, quick, and crispy

I’ve already tried this recipe with snow crab, and it was just as delicious, but clearly, choosing canned crab meat (often sold in the refrigerated section of your seafood counter) totally gets the job done. If you can’t find Old Bay seasoning at the store, I’ve included the ingredient list below!

Why make this recipe?

  • Only 5 main ingredients: simple, quick, and hassle-free.

  • Perfect texture: crispy on the outside, tender, and packed with crab on the inside.

  • No mayonnaise in the mix: lighter thanks to Greek yogurt.

  • Classic, well-seasoned flavor: thanks to the Old Bay spice blend, homemade or store-bought.

  • Easy pan and oven cooking: for a golden, perfectly cooked result without drying out.

  • Perfect as an appetizer or main dish: served with a salad, veggies, or homemade mayo

Preparation
1.

In a large bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, egg, panko, and spices. Gently fold in the crab meat — you want to still feel the lumps of crab. Season with salt and pepper. Use a measuring cup or large ice cream scoop to form the crab cakes; you should get 6 large or 8 smaller cakes.

2.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the oil and fry the crab cakes for 3 minutes. Flip and fry for another 2 minutes, then transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 5 minutes.

3.

Serve with lemon wedges, fresh dill leaves, and mayonnaise.
