The most divine Cantonese appetizer you can ever have!! This is very popular in Dim Sum restaurants, and it should be a favorite in your home too. It's super easy to make in the air fryer and I love serving it with a tangy lime and cilantro sauce. Go ahead, make it!!
Servings: 2-4 (8 toasts)
Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 10 minutes
Ingredients :
- 200 g raw Argentine shrimp, peeled and cleaned
- 1 clove garlic, coarsely chopped
- 1 tsp finely grated ginger
- 2 tbsp fresh coriander
- 1 egg white
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp tamari soy sauce
- 2 green onions, very finely chopped
- 4 slices white bread, crusts removed
- Toasted sesame oil, for brushing
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 100g toasted sesame seeds
- Avocado oil spray, for cooking
Creamy Lime Cilantro Sauce:
- ½ cup Greek yogurt
- Juice and zest of one lime
- ¼ cup cilantro, finely chopped
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp hot sauce, to taste
- A pinch of kosher salt
Steps:
- Add the shrimp, garlic, ginger, green onion, egg white, cilantro, maple syrup, and soy sauce to a food processor and blend until smooth. You can prepare this step ahead of time and refrigerate overnight.
- Remove the crust from the bread pieces. Cut them in half diagonally and brush with toasted sesame oil. Spread the shrimp mixture on top, you want it to be about 1 cm thick. Brush the beaten egg on top gently and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Spray the bottom of the air fryer with avocado oil and add the toasts - you may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer. Spray more oil on top and cook for 10 minutes at 400°F (200°C).
- Meanwhile, prepare the sauce by mixing all the ingredients in a blender, blend until smooth and homogeneous.
- Serve the toasts hot with the sauce on the side. SO good.
